Robinhood's Blockchain Disrupts Crypto Landscape with Tokenized Stock Trading
Retail brokerage firm Robinhood has emerged as a major player in the cryptocurrency space thanks to its newly launched blockchain, the Robinhood Chain. This decentralized network is designed for fast and cheap transactions, settling on Ethereum's platform.
With more than 28 million users, Robinhood's existing pool of customers gives it a significant advantage over other crypto-native networks like Binance. The company's layer 2 (L2) network has already attracted $146 million in tradeable tokenized stocks as of September 18th.
Binance's chain, which began as a copy of Ethereum, has around $1 billion in tokenized stocks parked on its platform. However, it experienced significant outflows in the past 30 days, losing $181 million in assets other than stocks. In contrast, Robinhood saw inflows of $156 million.
As Robinhood continues to onboard large sums of tokenized assets, it's poised to become a major player in crypto. The company's stock is worth considering for investors who want exposure to on-chain stock trading.
