Rocket Pauses Trading After $287K Perpetual Market Attack

Share

Rocket, a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform, has paused trading after a $287K perpetual market attack on September 5. The platform reported that an attacker used a burner account to post orders at artificially inflated prices, creating a fake profit in one account and forcing the disposable account into bankruptcy.

The profitable account then withdrew roughly $287,000 in positive profit and loss from Rocket's Bridge. The platform suspects a market-control failure rather than a confirmed smart-contract exploit.

Rocket is working with security firms and law-enforcement agencies to investigate the incident and has also coordinated with exchanges, bridges, and stablecoin issuers to trace the assets and seek freezes.
