The Roman Space Telescope, launched by NASA, is set to revolutionize the search for life beyond Earth. Led by Vanessa Bailey, a scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the telescope will scour the galactic center for exoplanets that resemble our own solar system.

According to Bailey, many of the early exoplanet discoveries were 'Hot Jupiters,' gas giants that tightly orbit their star. This has led scientists to re-evaluate their models of planet formation and propose a more diverse range of possibilities.

The Roman Space Telescope will use the gravitational microlensing method to detect smaller terrestrial planets, which is less biased towards giant planets than previous methods. Bailey predicts that this new approach could discover tens of thousands of new planets, potentially including Earth analogues.
