Tornado Cash Co-Founder Roman Storm's Retrial Delayed Until April 2027

A US federal court has delayed the retrial of Tornado Cash co-founder and developer Roman Storm until April 26, 2027. This decision was made due to a pending motion by Storm for acquittal on the charges.

The trial revolves around Storm's involvement in creating Tornado Cash, a crypto mixer designed to increase privacy in blockchain transactions. The US government claims that Storm and others developed services used to transfer and hide cryptocurrencies for illegal purposes.

Storm was found guilty by a Manhattan jury in August 2025 of conspiracy to conduct a money transmission business without a license, punishable by up to five years' imprisonment. However, the jury failed to reach a verdict on charges of money laundering and sanctions violations.
