Ross Gerber: Bitcoin Price Predictions 'One of the Funnier Ideas' Like Valuing Unlisted Space Companies
Ross Gerber, co-founder of investment firm Gerber Kawasaki, expressed skepticism about Bitcoin price predictions, calling them 'one of the funnier ideas.' He pointed to publicly listed companies like Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX), also known as SpaceX, to illustrate how fundamental differences in valuation affect their prices.
Gerber noted that with a public company like SpaceX, one can use established methods to estimate its value based on earnings, outstanding shares, float, and other factors. He explained that this process is still ongoing for SpaceX, which recently went public.
Gerber contrasted this approach with Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), saying it's primarily driven by supply and demand. He mentioned the quadrennial halving event as a time when fundamentals change, but emphasized that he's not thinking much about Bitcoin for at least another year.
