Roundhill's Income-Focused XRP ETF Seeks to Launch by January 29
Roundhill Investments has filed an amended registration statement for its XRP Covered Call Strategy ETF, which could launch as early as January 29. This income-focused fund will not provide direct spot exposure to XRP but instead track the performance of other XRP ETFs trading on U.S.-regulated exchanges.
The fund employs a synthetic covered call strategy to generate income and can track both spot XRP ETFs and funds that gain exposure through exchange-traded futures contracts using XRP as the reference asset. This approach is distinct from spot XRP ETFs, which aim to capture upside rather than monetize volatility.
Crypto analyst Richard notes that this filing confirms XRP's approval as an underlying asset for regulated derivatives. He explains that covered-call ETFs typically emerge after an asset gains legal and structural acceptance, indicating that the product structure is complete and timing is the variable.
