Roundtable Unveils Real-Time USDC Payment Platform for Journalists with Coinbase
Roundtable has unveiled its real-time USDC payment platform for journalists, integrating Coinbase's infrastructure to provide instant settlement in digital dollars. The platform is connected to Roundtable's 'Media Liquidity Pool' and secured by Coinbase, empowering decentralized and independent journalism. This innovation enables publishers and journalists to have full autonomy, transparency, and control of their intellectual property (IP), now rewarded in real-time while creating and connecting with their audience.
The platform combines Coinbase's USDC payment infrastructure with Roundtable's enterprise-level Web3 media OS and AI-driven smart wallet system. It requires no human intermediary, giving publishers and journalists full autonomy and transparency over their IP. This is a significant step towards decentralized finance (DeFi) and cryptocurrency adoption in the journalism industry.
Roundtable recently announced a ten-year contract to migrate 21 major media brands, hundreds of journalists, and nearly 100 million viewers consuming $100 million in advertising from a Web1 platform with manual fiat currency payments that can take up to 90 days or more. The platform is already live in the U.S. with hundreds of journalists and tracks and clears trillions of AI-monitored bids through dynamic DeFi smart wallets.
James Heckman, CEO of Roundtable, stated, 'USDC is no longer an abstract promise for commercial use. We are embracing DeFi and crypto banking, starting with journalists being fairly rewarded for value already created.' John D'Agostino, Head of Institutional Strategy at Coinbase, added, 'Of the many ways blockchain and cryptocurrency are upgrading the financial system, few use cases are as compelling as transforming payment cycles for independent journalists.'
