Russia's central bank has added Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether's USDT to its list of acceptable cryptocurrencies for regulated exchange trade. The decision marks a significant step towards establishing a legal framework for digital currencies in Russia.

The Bank of Russia based its selection on factors including market capitalization, average daily trading volumes, and the history of price formation on foreign trading platforms.

Under the new rules, qualified investors will be able to purchase all cryptocurrencies traded on exchange and over-the-counter markets without restrictions. However, non-qualified investors face an annual purchase limit of 300,000 rubles (approximately $3,800) through each intermediary.
