Russia Caps Retail Crypto Purchases, Allows Only BTC, ETH, and USDT
The Bank of Russia has proposed rules that would allow ordinary Russians to buy Bitcoin, Ether, and USDT on licensed exchanges.
Retail investors will be capped at 300,000 rubles ($3,690) per year with each intermediary, roughly 98% of market participants are expected to fall under this ceiling.
The regulator has also introduced a mandatory test for all investors, regardless of their status, to review the risks of crypto investing before transacting.
