Russia Includes Cryptocurrencies in Financial Stability Standards
The Bank of Russia has proposed updating financial stability standards for professional market participants to include cryptocurrencies as a separate type of asset.
The new rules will affect brokers, asset managers, forex dealers, and crypto exchanges, who will have to consider digital currencies when calculating prudential indicators.
Digital currencies can only make up 25% of the value of assets taken into account, and companies must register them in crypto depositories for storage and accounting purposes.
