Russia Lifts Bitcoin Trading Restrictions for Retail Investors
Russia's central bank has approved Bitcoin trading for retail investors on domestic crypto exchanges, but with some caveats. According to a recent law, purchases are capped at 300,000 rubles (~$3,632) per year.
The Bank of Russia selected cryptocurrencies based on their market capitalization, average daily trading volume, and foreign exchange pricing history, which must span at least five years for each asset.
Qualified investors will have access to a longer list of digital assets, with no limits on the amount they can trade. This move comes as part of Russia's efforts to regulate the crypto space amid international sanctions.
