Russia Mandates TIN for Regulated Crypto Accounts
Russian crypto users are now required to link their Tax Identification numbers to regulated accounts. This new rule is part of the government's efforts to combat money laundering, according to Vlada Gracheva, advisor to the Director of Rosfinmonitoring.
The Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is a 12-digit number assigned to Russian citizens and used throughout the federation. Crypto service providers in Russia must now report user data and high-value transactions, making it difficult for self-custody crypto users in Russia to navigate transactions without severe structural barriers.
This new law aims to increase transparency in crypto transactions by requiring clients' TIN as a mandatory identifier.
