Russia Opens Up Crypto Trading for Both Qualified and Non-Qualified Investors
Russia's new crypto rules have taken effect, allowing qualified and non-qualified investors to trade through regulated intermediaries. This development marks a significant step towards mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies in Russia.
Major banks are preparing infrastructure to support the growth of cryptocurrency trading in the country. The Bank of Russia has proposed limiting banks' crypto-related risk to 1% of their capital, which will help ensure stability in the financial system.
The new rules also impose annual purchase limits on non-qualified investors and prohibit crypto payments within Russia. However, this does not affect qualified investors who can trade without restrictions.
