Russia Passes Comprehensive Crypto Regulation Law
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a comprehensive law regulating cryptocurrencies and digital assets. The legislation covers issuance, circulation, storage, accounting, mining, and exchange activities.
The law requires cryptocurrency exchanges to register with the state and maintain at least 15 million rubles ($187,000) in capital. Registered exchanges must also join a self-regulatory financial organization.
Retail investors will be allowed to purchase up to 300,000 rubles worth of the most liquid cryptocurrencies per year through licensed intermediaries. Qualified investors may buy any cryptocurrency without a purchase limit.
