Russia Proposes Regulated Exchange Access for BTC, ETH, and USDT with Purchase Caps
Russia's central bank has proposed allowing Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and USDT on regulated exchanges, capping non-qualified investor crypto purchases at 300K rubles ($3,650) per intermediary yearly.
The Bank of Russia released a draft framework on Aug. 11, naming these three cryptocurrencies eligible for public trading on regulated exchanges after President Vladimir Putin signed new digital asset legislation into law on Aug. 4.
The central bank used market capitalization, average daily trading volume, and a minimum of five years of pricing history on overseas platforms to screen which cryptocurrencies could be approved for public exchange trading.
Qualified investors would face no purchase limits and could trade any cryptocurrency available on exchange or over-the-counter markets, including assets not on the approved public list.
