Russian Crypto Owners Flock to Cold Wallets Amid Market Restructuring
Sales of physical crypto wallets in Russia have surged by 107% in the second quarter of 2026, according to data from M.Video. This growth is part of a broader trend towards cold storage, where cryptocurrency keys are stored separately from smartphones and computers.
The demand for separate storage is increasing as the Russian cryptocurrency market undergoes restructuring. New rules are being implemented to create a regulated infrastructure with brokers, exchanges, and digital depositories. However, owners are choosing to store their assets in cold wallets, which keep access to cryptocurrency keys solely with the owner.
On Wildberries, another major retailer, sales of physical crypto wallets increased by 84% in units and 60% in monetary terms during the first half of the year. The average price decreased by 13%, reaching 7.9 thousand rubles. Customers are showing a preference for models with NFC and backup cards.
