Russian FSB Targets Pavel Durov with Terrorism Charges
The Telegram founder Pavel Durov is facing fresh charges in Russia, this time accused of facilitating terrorism and supporting it. The Federal Security Service (FSB) has officially brought the case against him and placed him on a wanted list.
Durov was previously detained in France last year for allegedly failing to take adequate action against illicit activities on his platform. Now, Moscow is taking aim at Telegram's supposed ties to Ukrainian intelligence groups operating in Russia.
The charges stem from an ongoing investigation that began in February when the Russian government started limiting Telegram's operations. The company has already faced over $1.25 million in fines for failing to remove prohibited content.
As a result of the new developments, the price of Gram (formerly Toncoin) has dropped by 2.4% to $1.42 per unit.
