Russians Hold ₽3.7 Trillion in Crypto Assets, Experts Warn Estimation Challenges

The Bank of Russia estimated that Russians hold ₽3.7 trillion in crypto assets, but this figure is based on expert estimates rather than direct statistical measurement.

The estimate comes from combining data on average monthly balances on foreign centralised exchanges with an analysis of indirect sociological metrics and the share of Russian web traffic on leading international exchanges.

However, experts caution that estimating crypto volumes is a complex task due to the anonymity of users, and absolute accuracy may be unattainable. The actual volume of accumulated capital could be significantly higher than the stated figure.
