Russia's Crypto Industry Sees Legal Framework by Year-End
Russia's central bank has announced that the country's crypto industry may start operating within a legal framework by the end of this year. According to Vladimir Chistyukhin, deputy governor of the central bank, regulations are moving ahead as scheduled.
The Russian government has been pushing forward with crypto legislation in 2026, with President Putin signing a law in August to regulate digital currencies and rights. However, using Bitcoin for payments is still prohibited.
The central bank has approved Bitcoin trading for the public on local exchanges, allowing unqualified investors to buy up to 300,000 rubles ($3,582) worth of Bitcoin through one intermediary. Qualified investors have no limits.
