Ryoshi's Mysterious Disappearance Leaves Shiba Inu Community in the Dark
Ryoshi, the anonymous creator of Shiba Inu (SHIB), launched the memecoin in August 2020 and vanished soon after. The project's original roadmap called for a decentralized exchange, a layer-2 network, a stablecoin, and a financial ecosystem. However, Ryoshi deleted all tweets and Medium posts related to SHIB on May 30, 2022, without giving a reason.
Ryoshi had warned holders in an earlier blog post that they were not important and would one day disappear without notice. Shytoshi Kusama, the project lead at the time, responded with a Medium post praising Ryoshi as one of the most successful anonymous founders in crypto and promising to finish the original roadmap.
Despite Ryoshi's disappearance, SHIB has continued to grow, with its market value reaching around $3.5 billion. The team has been working on Shibarium, a layer-2 network built on top of Ethereum, which recently fixed a reorg problem. SHIB also adopted Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) and Cross-Chain Token (CCT) standard, allowing it to operate on 12 blockchains.
