Ryoshi's Mysterious Exit Leaves Shiba Inu Community in Limbo

The Shiba Inu token was created by an anonymous founder named Ryoshi in August 2020 on Ethereum. The project's own explanation at the time stated that three simple ideas drove the whole thing: it started from nothing, had zero funding and backing, and was shaped by a fondness for Shiba Inu dogs.

Ryoshi described himself as 'just some guy of no consequence tapping at a keyboard.' He made it clear that no single person should be held accountable for whether the coin succeeded or failed. He also publicly stated he owned exactly zero SHIB tokens himself, and later deleted his Medium blog and Twitter activity.

Ryoshi sent 50 percent of the entire SHIB supply to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin in a move that was seen as unusual. Buterin donated most of those tokens to COVID-19 relief efforts in India and burned around 410 trillion SHIB, taking them out of circulation for good.

Ryoshi laid out a detailed roadmap across Medium posts, including ideas for Shibarium, ShibaNet, the SHI stablecoin, and LEASH. These concepts became the blueprint that later developers and community leaders kept building toward. The project's decentralized angle was reinforced by Ryoshi's decision to remain anonymous.
