S&P Global Acquires Blockchain Security Firm OpenZeppelin
S&P Global has made another strategic move in its digital assets strategy by agreeing to acquire OpenZeppelin, a blockchain security platform. Founded in 2015, OpenZeppelin's smart contracts have facilitated over $37 trillion in transfers.
The company provides security assessments for blockchain projects and traditional financial institutions, completing more than 900 audits in the process. Its contract library will remain available as open-source code on GitHub after the deal closes.
Demian Brener, CEO of OpenZeppelin, will continue to lead the business under S&P Global's ownership. The platform will operate as an independent unit with its own name, and its technology and expertise will complement S&P Global's existing capabilities in the digital asset market.
