S&P Global Acquires OpenZeppelin for Onchain Security Assessments
S&P Global has acquired OpenZeppelin, a leading provider of onchain security assessments and smart contract libraries. The deal gives S&P access to a critical area of digital asset markets: the code that issues, moves, and manages stablecoins, tokenized funds, and DeFi products.
The $37 trillion figure mentioned by S&P refers to the total value transferred through contracts using OpenZeppelin's library over time. This is not assets managed or held by the company.
Co-founder and CEO Demian Brener will continue to lead the business as its own unit under the OpenZeppelin name, reporting to Le Pallec.
