S&P Global Bolsters Tokenized Market Capabilities with OpenZeppelin Acquisition
S&P Global has made a strategic move to strengthen its digital asset capabilities by acquiring OpenZeppelin, a blockchain security firm known for its open-source smart contract tooling and professional security reviews.
The acquisition is designed to enhance S&P Global's risk assessment and onchain technology analysis abilities, particularly in tokenized markets. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal remains subject to customary closing conditions.
OpenZeppelin's open-source contracts library will remain free and publicly maintained on GitHub after the deal. The company will operate as a separate S&P Global business unit, with Demian Brener continuing as CEO and reporting to Yann Le Pallec, S&P Global's ratings president.
This acquisition is part of a broader push into tokenized markets by S&P Global. In addition to this move, the firm has also pursued a strategic investment in Kaiko, a Paris-based crypto market data provider, which is expected to expand data infrastructure for tokenized financial markets.
