S&P Global Goes All-In on DeFi with OpenZeppelin Acquisition

Share

S&P Global is doubling down on its crypto market investments with an acquisition of OpenZeppelin, a smart contract security and assessment firm. The deal was announced on September 17th.

The company's president, Yann Le Pallec, emphasized the importance of 'trusted data' in bringing digital assets and traditional finance closer together. He noted that OpenZeppelin's technology will complement S&P Global's existing smart contract and on-chain risk assessment capabilities.

S&P Global has made significant investments in the crypto space recently, including a $110M strategic investment into Kaiko, a crypto-native data firm, just three days before this announcement. This conviction reinforces the idea that blockchain and cryptocurrency will play a major role in future global financial infrastructure.
