Salinas Predicts Bitcoin Will Hit $1.86M as Parity with Gold Looms
Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego has once again expressed his confidence in Bitcoin's long-term prospects. In a recent post on X, he argued that if Bitcoin were to achieve parity with gold's market value, it would need to reach $1.86 million per coin. This is not the first time Salinas has made this comparison; back in October 2025, he predicted that Bitcoin would need to rise at least 14 times to match gold's valuation before outperforming it.
Salinas views both gold and Bitcoin as hedges against fiat debasement. He holds a significant portion of his liquid portfolio in Bitcoin-related assets, citing 70%-80%, with the remainder split between gold and mining stocks. The billionaire believes that Bitcoin is superior to gold due to its digital properties, portability, and scarcity.
The comparison comes amid rising institutional interest in hard assets. A recent study by Bitwise found that the correlation between Bitcoin and gold has reached a six-year high, as investors seek protection from currency debasement and fiscal stimulus. Other prominent voices, such as Michael Saylor and analyst Willy Woo, have also echoed Salinas' thesis.
