Samourai Wallet Developer's Chilling Account of Prison Transfer Nightmare

The author of Samourai Wallet recently shared their story of being transferred from FPC Morgantown to FCI McKean, a four-hour drive away. The transfer process took 30 days and involved two transcontinental flights, three multi-hour bus rides, and sharing cells with murderers.

Initially, the author requested a transfer furlough, but their request was denied without explanation. They were then put on an airplane piloted by the US Marshals to be taken to BOP transit hub in Oklahoma City.

The author described the experience as a 'month long fever dream' and shared details of the prison bus ride, which included being shackled and handcuffed, handed a brown paper bag with breakfast, and escorted to the waiting bus. The bus was filled with inmates from other prisons, and the atmosphere was generally friendly.

After five hours, they arrived at the Greenbriar Valley Regional Airport, where they were packed into a plain white airplane and flown to their destination. The author noted that the process could have been far worse and was surprised by how smoothly it all moved.
