Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay will soon enable U.S. users to send USDC stablecoin across borders using the Solana blockchain. The feature, set to launch in the last week of October, will be available on 82 million Galaxy devices in the U.S. The integration includes built-in conversion between USDC and local currencies, with Solana's infrastructure operating in the background.
Woncheol Chai, head of the digital wallet team at Samsung Electronics, emphasized the goal of simplifying stablecoin use for Galaxy users. 'Stablecoins have the potential to make moving money around the world faster and easier, and we want Galaxy users to be able to take advantage of that without having to navigate the complexity of traditional crypto tools,' Chai said. Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, highlighted the partnership's significance, stating, 'Samsung's decision to work with Solana puts digital dollars into everyday life through one of the world's most trusted technology brands.'
Samsung first announced plans to add stablecoin support in July but did not specify the issuer, blockchain, or launch date. The latest update confirms the use of Circle's USDC on Solana. However, details about user key ownership, transfer costs, and whether Circle is a direct partner remain unclear.
The Solana Foundation noted that stablecoin supply on its network has grown nearly 20% year over year, with over $5.25 trillion in stablecoin volume processed in 2026. Enterprises like PayPal and Western Union are already using Solana for stablecoin transactions. Visa has also adopted USDC on Solana for payment settlement.
