Samsung Brings Stablecoins Directly into Its Wallet App
Samsung has announced that its wallet app will support stablecoins, making it one of the first major mobile brands to do so. The move is significant, as it means users can store and use dollar-pegged digital currencies directly within their phone's wallet. Samsung Wallet already has a large user base, with an estimated 241 million Galaxy phones worldwide.
The company did not confirm which stablecoins will be supported or when the feature will launch globally. However, the Galaxy Card, launched in partnership with Barclays and Visa, is available only in the US, suggesting that this may be the first market to see stablecoin support.
Stablecoins have largely stayed within the crypto ecosystem, circulating between exchanges and platforms that ordinary users never touch. A default slot in the wallet app that comes preinstalled on the phone removes a major barrier to adoption: users don't need to download anything or sign up elsewhere.
