SAND Token Surges 62.5% as South Korean Exchanges Lift Trading Caution Designations
The Sandbox (SAND) token experienced a significant price surge, rising 62.5% in 24 hours to $0.07678 on October 3, 2026, following the lifting of trading caution designations by three major South Korean exchanges, Upbit, Bithumb, and Coinone.
The trading caution labels were placed on SAND in August after the token's cross-chain bridge was exploited, resulting in a significant loss of tokens. The exchanges removed the labels after The Sandbox provided explanations and public materials addressing the concerns behind the labels.
The lifting of the trading caution designations restored deposits and withdrawals for Korean holders, allowing them to move SAND on and off the exchanges. The SAND price jump was accompanied by a 24-hour trading volume of $951.5 million, about 4.1 times the token's $230 million market cap.
Open interest totals $1.465 billion, roughly 6.4 times SAND's market value, heightening price volatility risk. The rally also led to $13.47 million in SAND liquidations, with 64.7% of the liquidations coming from short positions betting on a decline.
