The Sandbox's recent hack has come to an end with a final tally of unbacked SAND tokens minted by an attacker. According to the project's post-mortem report, more than 339 trillion tokens were created across Base and BNB Smart Chain.

This figure settles conflicting estimates that ranged from 500 million to 14.9 billion tokens. The true scale was reconciled against the contract's own mint log, revealing a nominal value of $1 trillion for the unbacked SAND.

The attacker drained around $697,000 worth of real SAND from the Ethereum vault via a bridge configuration flaw on Base/BSC. However, this is a fraction of the total damage estimated at $1.5 million, with the attacker capturing approximately $987,000.
