Sandbox Promises Repayment After $700K Bridge Exploit

The Sandbox has promised to repay users after a bridge exploit drained nearly $700,000 worth of SAND tokens.

The attack occurred on August 21 and involved a configuration flaw that allowed an attacker to gain control of the verification process for incoming bridge messages.

This enabled the attacker to mint unbacked SAND and drain approximately 14.7 million tokens, worth around $700,000 at the time.

The affected tokens represent roughly 0.5% of SAND's 3 billion maximum supply.
