Satoshi's Bitcoin Fortune Hovers Near $100B, But Immobility Raises Red Flags
As of September 2026, analysis from Bitquery and Arkham Intelligence estimates that Satoshi Nakamoto's Bitcoin fortune ranges between 1.09 million and 1.17 million BTC, bringing its aggregate value near USD 100 billion.
However, the absence of on-chain movement is a crucial factor in understanding the protocol's governance, security, and market dynamics. The Patoshi pattern, which identifies blocks mined between 2009 and 2010 through differences in nonce, coinbase transaction structure, and other parameters, has been mapped by experts.
According to Bitquery data, approximately 99.86% of the coins associated with the Patoshi pattern have never moved, while around 1,550 BTC left the original set mainly due to housekeeping operations in 2009 and 2010. No transfers attributable to the pattern have occurred since December 2017.
Market analysts should distinguish between market value and realizable value, as the immobility of Satoshi coins is a social expectation rather than a cryptographic guarantee. The community's reliance on this expectation raises narrative risk, and confidence in Bitcoin should be based on consensus rules, cryptographic verification, and economic incentives.
