Satoshi's 'Sorry' Stands the Test of Time

The Bitcoin community is celebrating a significant milestone today as it marks the 16th anniversary of Satoshi Nakamoto's most famous and uncompromising quote in the history of digital assets. On July 29, 2010, Nakamoto was participating in a discussion on the Bitcointalk forum when one user questioned the speed of Bitcoin transactions, arguing that they took around 10 minutes to confirm compared to traditional bank cards which processed payments instantly. In response, Nakamoto explained how third-party processors could be integrated to enable fast payments within seconds or less.

Despite his explanation, the skeptic remained unconvinced and continued to think within the framework of traditional banking. Nakamoto then ended the debate with a phrase that would go down in history: 'If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.'

At the time, Bitcoin was worth around $0.07 and had only a few hundred enthusiasts supporting the network. Fast forward to 2026, and the debate has been settled, Bitcoin has become a legitimate exchange-traded asset recognized by governments and large financial institutions such as BlackRock and Morgan Stanley.

The cryptocurrency market is now valued in the trillions of dollars, with Bitcoin reaching an all-time high above $126,000 last year and currently trading near $64,300. Satoshi's quote has proven that true innovations do not waste time trying to convince skeptics, they simply change the world around them.
