Solana Gains Traction Among Financial Institutions and Stablecoin Issuers
The Solana network has been gaining traction among traditional financial institutions and stablecoin issuers due to its technical properties. With a transaction processing speed of 1,635 transactions per second (TPS) and a median transaction fee of $0.0008 as of mid-January 2026, Solana is positioned as a viable candidate for operating as a settlement layer for stablecoins at enterprise scale.
Adoption by financial institutions such as Visa, JPMorgan, Mastercard, Worldpay, and Western Union demonstrates the network's use as infrastructure rather than speculation. The institutional adoption of Solana has led to significant growth in stablecoin transfer volume data, with $11.7 trillion processed in 2025.
The Solana Developer Platform (SDP) provides a unified API-based interface for compliance, tokenization, and custody management, making it easier for institutions to integrate the network into their operations. The GENIUS Act regulatory framework has also established a federal framework for stablecoins in the United States, which Solana is well-positioned to comply with.
