Satoshi's Stash Remains Dormant Amid Speculation Over Bitcoin Creator's Activity

The Bitcoin network has been abuzz with speculation about its pseudonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. However, a recent audit by Bitquery found no indication that the Bitcoin founder has returned to the market or begun moving any of his long-dormant holdings.

Bitquery estimates that as much as 1.17 million BTC could be linked to Satoshi Nakamoto, with 1,023,352 BTC remaining unmoved on the blockchain. This represents an estimated $86.2 billion in value, based on the current price of Bitcoin.

Crypto users have responded to the speculation with varying opinions, but one user noted that 'the more interesting question is not whether Satoshi is moving. It's why we still care so much.' The user went on to say that 'Bitcoin's strongest test may be whether the network can keep functioning without its creator, even if those coins suddenly move tomorrow.'

The figures of Nakamoto's holdings are derived from on-chain forensics rather than confirmed ownership, and nearly all of the identified holdings have stayed dormant for more than 15 years.
