Saturn Ondo Partnership Unlocks 9.83 Billion Bitcoin-Backed Digital Credit
Saturn Foundation and Ondo Finance have completed a strategic partnership that unlocks $9.83 billion in Bitcoin-backed digital credit. The collaboration centers on the sUSDat V2 upgrade, which integrates Ondo’s STRCon, tokenized preferred stock of the Nasdaq-listed STRC, into Saturn’s product suite. STRC, tied to a Bitcoin treasury strategy, boasts an effective yield of 12.52%, making it one of the highest-yielding large-cap preferred instruments.
STRCon serves as reserve collateral, enabling on-chain exposure to licensed equity instruments using DeFi primitives. The upgrade introduces Ondo’s mint-and-transfer infrastructure, making credit positions peer-to-peer transferable and composable. Both products are exclusively accessible to eligible participants outside the U.S. and Europe.
The partnership bridges a longstanding gap in DeFi by merging licensed yield-generating traditional assets with DeFi’s composability. Conventional preferred markets operate within set hours and geographies, while DeFi credit has relied on crypto-native collateral. The upgrade also reduces redemption periods from T+7 to T+1, offering 24/7 pricing.
Ondo has positioned itself as a leading provider of tokenized securities, having added over 100 tokenized U.S. stocks and ETFs in 2025. The partnership validates the trend of moving from Treasury bills to equities and structured products. However, challenges remain, including custody dividend handling, redemption periods, and regulatory clarity for tokenized preferred shares.
