Saudi Arabia Unveils Ambitious AI Infrastructure Plans
A new AI infrastructure is taking shape in Saudi Arabia, thanks to a joint venture between AMD, Cisco, and HUMAIN. The partnership aims to build up to 1 gigawatt of AI data center infrastructure by 2030, with the initial phase set to begin operations in 2026.
The first phase will deploy AMD's latest GPUs and Cisco's networking stack, offering GPU-as-a-service for both AI model training and inference workloads. The joint venture has already secured its first customer, Luma AI, a generative video startup that has reserved capacity in the initial 100 MW deployment.
AMD and HUMAIN had previously signed a $10 billion agreement focused on expanding Saudi Arabia's data center capabilities. This partnership adds networking expertise to what was already one of the largest AI infrastructure commitments outside of the US and China.
