Saylor: Bitcoin Offers Digital Empowerment and Capital
Michael Saylor, founder and Executive Chairman of Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) and one of the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holders, recently shared his views on the nature of money and the transformative power of Bitcoin in an interview with Steven Bartlett.
Saylor explained that he discovered Bitcoin in 2020 during the COVID lockdowns and that it has been a game-changer for his company, which peaked at $125 billion and is now worth around $60 billion. He believes that Bitcoin offers digital empowerment and capital, allowing individuals to take control of their wealth and protect it from inflation and debasement.
Saylor emphasized the difference between permissioned money, such as fiat currency, and Bitcoin, which operates independently without the need for intermediaries or government approval. He explained that with traditional currency, there are multiple parties involved in transferring funds, including banks, central banks, and governments, whereas Bitcoin allows for instant and secure transactions without these middlemen.
