Saylor Defends Bitcoin Advocacy Amid MSTR Share Declines
Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of Strategy, defended his public advocacy for Bitcoin, citing it as protected speech under United States law. He emphasized that Americans can discuss and recommend owning Bitcoin without needing a special license.
Saylor also stated that existing laws prohibit fraud and market manipulation involving digital assets, separating advocacy from illegal conduct. This stance links public Bitcoin promotion with established rights while rejecting unlawful financial activity.
The comments come as lawmakers debate the CLARITY Act, which seeks clearer responsibilities among federal agencies overseeing digital asset markets. Senator Cynthia Lummis has argued that the bill could give law enforcement stronger tools against illicit crypto finance.
Strategy recently resumed Bitcoin purchases after an extended buying pause, acquiring 4,603 BTC for roughly $369.7 million at an average purchase price of $80,318. This lifted the company's Bitcoin holdings to 845,050 BTC.
