Saylor Defends Bitcoin Advocacy as Protected Free Speech
Michael Saylor, Executive Chairman of Strategy, maintains that advocating for Bitcoin in the US is protected free speech and does not require a financial license. He emphasizes that Bitcoin is considered a commodity, not a security, and legitimate promotion is distinct from illegal activities like fraud or market manipulation.
Saylor's remarks come amid ongoing US legislative debates on clearer cryptocurrency regulations, including the upcoming Senate procedural vote on the CLARITY Act.
Strategy has resumed Bitcoin purchases, adding 4,603 BTC to its holdings despite recent market volatility affecting its stock price. This move comes as Bitcoin's price rose nearly 1% to around $79,262 on September 4, extending a one-month rally of about 23%, with the correlation between Bitcoin and gold hitting a six-year high.
