Saylor Reaffirms 'Bitcoin Digital Energy' Thesis Amid Growing Market Value
Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy, has reaffirmed his 'Bitcoin digital energy' thesis. He argues that Bitcoin's scarcity and transferability provide a secure form of value that can be preserved and transferred by individuals, families, companies, machines, governments, and public institutions. This concept serves as an investment metaphor rather than a formal classification.
Saylor believes that Bitcoin's fixed issuance schedule supports its scarcity argument, while its decentralized network enables the transfer of value without relying on one central operator.
Strategy currently holds 840,447 BTC at an average cost of $75,385 per coin. This position represents about 4% of Bitcoin's maximum supply and has an estimated market value of $64.86 billion as of August 23. The unrealized gain from this position is around $1.50 billion.
The company's treasury combines a volatile asset (Bitcoin) with conventional corporate liabilities, including salaries, interest expenses, and preferred dividends. This combination highlights the relationship between Saylor's 'Bitcoin digital energy' thesis and Strategy's capital plans.
