Saylor Slams BIP-110 as Statist and Alien to Bitcoin's Soul
Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy (MSTR), has intensified his criticism of BIP-110, calling it 'alien to Bitcoin's soul' and imposing 'monetary purity by fiat'. The proposal would restrict the amount of non-payment-related data that can be attached to Bitcoin transactions.
Saylor's comments come as a growing number of Bitcoin community figures have voiced concerns about the design and activation process of BIP-110. Adam Back, Greg Maxwell, and Peter Todd have all raised issues with the proposal, which they see as an attempt to 'police other people' rather than solve any real technical problem.
The proposal remains highly divisive, with little miner support and growing concerns it could split the Bitcoin network. Saylor has said that BIP-110 would invalidate legitimate, fee-paying transactions and push Bitcoin towards rule changes decided by a small subset of the network.
