Saylor Slams Bitcoin Upgrade Proposal: A Threat to Crypto's Core
A proposal to upgrade Bitcoin's blockchain, known as BIP-110, has sparked a heated debate in the crypto community. At its core, BIP-110 aims to prevent users from embedding non-financial information on the blockchain, which some see as a subversion of Bitcoin's original intent.
Strategy's Michael Saylor, whose company owns approximately 4% of all Bitcoin in circulation, has been vocal about his opposition to BIP-110. In an online essay called '110 Reasons BIP-110 Is a Bad Idea,' he argued that the proposal sets a dangerous precedent and could fundamentally change how Bitcoin works in the future.
The debate over BIP-110 has highlighted concerns among investors about the potential risks of blockchain upgrades. As Saylor pointed out, previous forks of the Bitcoin blockchain have resulted in significant price volatility and even led to the creation of new assets, such as Bitcoin Cash.
