Saylor Unveils 'Bill of Digital Rights' for Future Economy
Michael Saylor, co-founder of Strategy, has proposed a 'bill of digital rights' to help build prosperity in the future economy. He argues that an age of digital assets and intelligence needs these rights, rather than restrictions. According to Saylor, this bill should establish five fundamental freedoms for both individuals and companies.
The first two rights are the freedom to create new digital assets and issue them to the market to finance business and productivity. The third right is the ability to hold or choose a custodian, while the fourth right is the ability to transfer these assets among people, companies, wallets, and service providers.
Saylor also believes that individuals should have the fifth right, the freedom to use digital assets, including spending, investing, earning income, and borrowing against them. He argues that an asset's value depends on what its owner can do with it.
In his essay, Saylor emphasizes the importance of creating new businesses and opportunities at a faster pace, especially as digital intelligence will automate jobs and make many products obsolete. To achieve this goal, Strategy has resumed buying Bitcoin after a two-week pause, acquiring 950 BTC for $75.7 million at an average price of $79,670 per coin.
