Saylor Unveils Digital Bill of Rights to Unlock AI-Driven Economy
Michael Saylor, co-founder of Strategy and executive chairman of its strategy arm, has proposed a 'digital bill of rights' for the future economy. In an essay posted on X, he argues that digital assets should be built around a clear set of 'digital rights', prioritizing what asset owners can do with their money and capital over additional restrictions.
The proposal centers on five fundamental freedoms: creation and issuance of new digital assets, holding them directly or through a custodian, transferability across parties and systems, and use in everyday economic activity. Saylor emphasizes that an asset's value depends on its owner's ability to act on it.
He connects the rights framework to the economic transition brought by AI, suggesting that automation will require societies to continuously generate new businesses and opportunities. To achieve this, capital formation must depend on reliable and broad asset mechanisms, particularly during periods of rapid technological change.
