Saylor's $15 Billion Windfall: How ChatGPT Helped Him Dominate the Bitcoin Market
Michael Saylor, the billionaire founder of Strategy, has attributed his company's $15 billion windfall to the use of artificial intelligence chatbots. Specifically, he credits ChatGPT for helping him design the company's bitcoin-backed preferred securities.
Saylor made these comments during an interview on The Diary Of A CEO podcast, where he discussed his strategy of using AI to create new financial products. He emphasized that the key is not to learn how to do things that AI can already do, but rather to use AI to find opportunities that have never been done before.
Strategy has accumulated over 850,000 bitcoins worth more than $50 billion since 2020, with many of its recent purchases funded by debt and equity sales. The company's most controversial preferred stock, the STRC, has rebounded in recent weeks to near its intended $100 level after dropping to around $75.
Some have praised Saylor for capitalizing on what they see as the implosion of the U.S. dollar, while others have criticized his strategy as 'terrifying' and questioned whether it's a brilliant use of AI or financial engineering gone wrong.
