Sber Prepares Loans Against Crypto Collateral
Sber, Russia's largest bank, is preparing to issue loans against cryptocurrency collateral. This move comes as the bank aims to expand its services in the digital assets space.
Anatoly Popov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board at Sber, stated that the bank plans to accept Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum, and Tether as collateral for loans. However, this will only be possible after the Central Bank allows these cryptocurrencies for public circulation.
The launch of this service will depend on new rules from the Bank of Russia. Once regulation is in place, Sber expects to adapt its existing products and gradually expand the list of accepted cryptocurrencies as collateral.
