Sberbank Prepares to Offer Loans Against Cryptocurrency Collateral
Sberbank, one of Russia's largest banks, is preparing to issue loans against cryptocurrency collateral. The bank already has experience working with digital assets and plans to expand its product line.
According to Anatoly Popov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank, the bank aims to accept not only Bitcoin (BTC) but also Ethereum and Tether as collateral in the future. However, this will depend on new regulations from the Bank of Russia, which have yet to be implemented.
Sberbank claims it has already gained practical experience with cryptocurrency instruments and is prepared for changes in legislation. The bank expects to adapt its existing products and gradually expand the list of accepted cryptocurrencies once the new rules come into effect.
