SBI Cites Regulatory Uncertainty as Reason for XRP Price Stagnation
SBI Holdings' crypto business remained sluggish in Q1 FY2027 due to investors waiting for regulatory clarity in the United States, according to Director Yasuo Nishikawa. The company's stake in Ripple is worth approximately 6.6 trillion yen and continues to be valued despite XRP's weak performance.
Nishikawa stated that 'XRP price is sluggish, remaining subdued, as if waiting to assess the status of the CLARITY Act.' He emphasized the value of SBI's investment in Ripple and expressed confidence in its future prospects. The company is continuing to expand its crypto offerings, including stablecoin services and lending products.
The CLARITY Act remains under Senate consideration with a recess deadline of August 7. If passed, it would provide regulatory clarity for digital assets in the US and potentially boost XRP's price. However, the bill faces debate over various aspects, including regulatory oversight and anti-money laundering rules.
